This quality and experienced partnership has, over the years, secured countless high profile and impressive Glass-Fused-to-Steel Tank projects around the world. The latest of these projects is an impressive project digesting palm oil mill effluent, commonly known as ‘POME’ in Malaysia.
POME is the wastewater that is discharged from the sterilisation process of palm oil and at present poses a great challenge for Malaysia as POME produces an enormous quantity of methane gas. In fact, 21 times the global warming potential when compared to many other gases.
The Permastore and KIRK ENVIRONMENTAL Project was recently constructed in Johor, a southern state of West Malaysia. For this specific tank application PERMASTORE® Tanks offered unrivalled and unparalleled experience in the digestion industry as we have been supplying anaerobic digestion and biogas tanks for in excess of forty years. This industry experience paired with the undeniable construction and customer support industry experience of KIRK ENVIRONMENTAL made PERMASTORE® Tanks the optimum solution for this Malaysia Palm oil project.
In addition to the PERMASTORE® Glass-Fused-to-Steel tanks, KIRK ENVIRONMENTAL supplied their BIODOME® Double Membrane Covers which offer the end customer a reliable and effective solution for biogas capture and utilisation. Both the PERMASTORE® Glass-Fused-to-Steel Tanks and the BIODOME® Double membrane roofs offer quick build and erection times. PERMASTORE® Tanks can be erected in less than 50% of the time of comparable concrete tanks and BIODOME® Double Membrane Roofs offer a construction time of only a matter of days! The plant consists of four PERMASTORE® Glass-Fused-to-Steel tanks each with a capacity of 4,000m3. Each tank is completed with a BIODOME® Double Membrane Roof. Another four tanks are due to be installed on this site during 2015 taking the total digestion capacity to 32,000m3.
