With over 50 years’ experience, PERMASTORE® Tanks are seen as the benchmark for product quality and durability in the agricultural slurry tank market. This reputation as the premium supplier has now been carried into the Anaerobic Digestion (AD) market where Permastore is consistently selected as the preferred supplier for digesters and associated process tanks especially on the more complex projects. Permastore remain the single most successful tank supplier to the AD sector in value terms as well as number of projects successfully built.
This includes projects using the concentric digester concept and recent success stories with a number of projects supplied through our Distributor Reliant Installations Ltd.
Concentric digesters also known as “ring in ring” bring the complete AD process into one container. The use of the outer annulus as a “plug flow” digester maximises the retention time during the important initial stages of digestion before the feedstock is transferred into the inner tank operating as a conventional digester to complete the process.
The benefits of a “plug flow” digester are known retention times and that different feedstock types can be introduced at measured points in the process allowing co-digestion of different materials which otherwise would be difficult to digest.
A concentric arrangement also provides a more compact plant with a smaller ground footprint and a lower environmental impact where planning permission may be a factor.
The PERMASTORE® modular concept brings significant advantages over other tank solutions for concentric systems such as concrete.
In a concentric digester there are three tank faces exposed to the contents and the biogas (inner tank inside and outer walls and outer tank inner walls). The chemical/corrosion resistance of the PERMASTORE® TRIFUSION® Glass-Fused-to-Steel offers users a lifetime coating which is applied to all panel contact surfaces and does not require reapplication during the life of the tank. In a typical concrete concentric system all three faces of concrete walls exposed to the biogas gases will require coating at build and then subsequent recoating which increases lifetime cost both from maintenance and loss of revenue perspective.
The sectional nature of the PERMASTORE® Tank allows designers not only more freedom at design stage for items such as connections and baffles but readily allows modification to accommodate future development of the plant to meet changes in process needs.
The PERMASTORE® TRIFUSION® coated panels and joints are self-supporting and corrosion resistant. Sectional concrete tanks however require external peripheral tension rings which need to be regularly inspected for evidence of corrosion. This is fine for a standalone tank but for an inner concentric tank these rings are in the most corrosive zone and are also difficult to inspect.
UK Process Designers are flying the flag for British Technology and Permastore is proud to be part of this important industry, supplying our world-class Glass-Fused-to-Steel tanks as an integral part of these AD plants. The PERMASTORE® Tanks provide an optimum containment solution with exceptional tank durability in some of the harshest environments and most demanding applications around the world. Permastore’s ongoing commitment to independently audited product testing, published quality standards and consistent factory quality control, ensures that customers receive market leading quality every time.
